Quick answers
How do dispatchers sleep on rotating 12s?
Anchor sleep: keep one block of about 4 hours asleep at the same time on every rotation, and flex the rest around it. A fixed night desk can hold a normal post-shift block instead — the calculator times both from your shift.
Screens all night — does light really matter?
Yes. Bright light and alerting work hold your body clock in day mode, which is why the drive home in morning sun wrecks day sleep. Blue-blockers after the shift, a dark cool room, and bright light when you wake are the levers that actually move it.
When's my caffeine cutoff on nights?
About 8 hours before your sleep block. On a 6 PM–6 AM desk with sleep at 8 AM, that's midnight — the second half of the shift runs on water and light, not refills.
